ILLINOIS COMPTROLLER 
SUSANA MENDOZA

Susana has been a champion for technology, biotech, and innovation throughout her career.

In 2006, representing the City of Chicago, she helped bring the world’s largest biotech conference to the city, then launched and chaired the first Biotech Committee in the Illinois Legislature.

As a state representative, she helped lead the charge on legislation to make Illinois more competitive for startups. The result was the Angel Investment Tax Credit, which is a state-backed incentive that gives early-stage investors 25% back on qualified investments into Illinois startups.

Most recently, in July, she attended the BIO Asia-Taiwan 2025 Exhibition to strengthen global connections for Chicago’s innovators.
